Let Your Brain Be Scared

Sometimes, you gotta LET your brain tell you its fears instead of pretending everything’s fine.

You gotta give the fear AIR TIME. 🗣

It’s like your brain is a toddler trying to interrupt your conversation to tell you that it’s hungry.

You have a few options:

A) You pretend you don’t hear them and hope they get the message until you’re done talking.

They decide to take matters into their own hands.

They make a GIANT mess in the kitchen as they attempt to microwave a pudding cup or some shit like that. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You hear the microwave exploding and stop your convo to deal with it.

B) You pause your convo to tell them to “please wait” and then continue without listening to their concerns.

The toddler feels ignored and invalidated.

They throw a fit that is GUARANTEED to get your attention. 👿

(Because their needs are the most important thing right now — duh).

You stop your convo to deal with it.

C) You realize the convo WILL NOT continue on in peace until you’ve listened to them (and grabbed them a snack).

So you stop and grab them a snack.

The toddler is satisfied and feels taken care of.

You are free to carry on your convo.

And they are free to munch on Teddy Grams (or whatever toddlers eat…) 😍

In each scenario, the conversation comes to a halt.

That part is unavoidable.

What IS avoidable is the exploded microwave pudding extravaganza and the screaming fit.

(Which I bet you could do without? 🤷🏻‍♀️ )

Listening to the fears your brain has is the quickest way to move beyond them. 🔥

So give them some air time.

Thank your brain for letting you know what it needs.

And take the time to soothe it.

You’ll get to the other side faster and with WAY less drama. ✨
